The Helsinki Notebooks (ISSN 2984-5343) is an international, open-access, peer-reviewed online journal launched in 2024 as part of the University of Helsinki’s Locating Global Protest Against the Extreme Right (LGP) project.

The journal brings together scholars, activists, and cultural practitioners dedicated to popularising the histories, strategies, and futures of resistance to far-right politics, particularly where these shed light on both the complexity of far-right formations and the diverse responses they provoke, intersecting with colonialism, racism, gendered oppression, and state violence.

Published bi-weekly, the journal features essays, field reports, archival reflections, and creative works grounded in critical scholarship and interdisciplinary dialogue, typically under 800 words, with flexibility for exceptional or experimental submissions.

Volume 1 (2024-2025) included over 20 contributions addressing state violence, racial nationalism, and cultural repression, with examples ranging from Latin American grassroots movements to African decolonial efforts and Balkan feminist initiatives.

Volume 2 (2025-2026) builds on this foundation, emphasising experimental approaches and principled global solidarities.

Co-founded and edited by Kasper Braskén, Moshumee Dewoo, and Shane Little, The Helsinki Notebooks welcomes contributions that advance critical reflection, foster informed exchange, and expand understanding of how communities worldwide confront far-right politics.
